This show which will be judged by renowned Bonsai artist Sergio Cuan will be held Saturday, October 7 from 10 AM until 4 PM. Anyone is welcome to enter their tree into the show regardless of their Bonsai skill level or experience.
The top five trees will win an award
We will be giving three awards in a novice category.
This is a free event and all are welcome to stop by and see beautiful Bonsai.

Spectators will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite tree and that tree

Contestants are encouraged to moss their trees and clean their pots as well as display their tree on a stand with an accent however this is not mandatory and all trees are welcome and can be shown in the show without any of that.
Sergio will give a critique and overview of why each tree won their award and will be available to sign copies of Michael Hagedorn's book that he illustrated.

Basic Bonsai overview this is One and a half hour discussion on basic Bonsai concepts principles and techniques this is a free class and all are welcome.
This is a FREE event starting at 11:00am at the Bonsai Shack and should not be missed.
The Bonsai shack is proud to announce that we have local Bonsai artist Sergio Cuan. Doing four Bring Your Own Tree Workshops.
The workshops will take place at the Bonsai shack starting at 10 AM and concluding at 4 PM. The dates are as follows Saturday, March 4, 2023 Saturday, April 22, 2023 Saturday, June 17, 2023 . Workshops are limited to 8 people, each participant will bring one or two of their own trees and get Sergio's expert opinion and guidance on how to make those trees better. The participant will then do the work such as pruning wiring or restyling the tree under Sergio's guidance. This is a fantastic opportunity to take your trees to the next level.
Classes are $85 each per person and you should call John to set up your reservation at 845-304-2183 Space is limited and these spots will not last

Basic repotting workshop these classes are designed to give new Bonsai practitioners the knowledge and the confidence they need to repot their trees correctly
Participants can bring their own trees or work on the bonsai shack trees cost for this is $24.99 plus materials.
Bonsai is an Asian tradition more than one thousand years old. Celebrate this ancient horticultural art form with us, at The Bonsai Shack in our one of a kind Bonsai Garden. This class features his novel approach to Bonsai, where art and horticulture meet to create a unique form of living are. Guests will work in a relaxing, aesthetically pleasing environment designed to connect you with your inner artist.
This course is intended for the beginner to novice, but all are encourage to attend.
The student will start with a tour of the nursery, receive a brief history of Bonsai and Bonsai varieties, as well as the art of creating a Bonsai.
The aspiring artist will have an opportunity to develop their own Bonsai through hands-on training and in-depth instruction using the instruments of the craft.
Upon completion, you will leave with an appreciation for and better understanding of the ancient art form of Bonsai and depart with your unique creation.
The price is $150 per person and includes the tree pot soil wire and instruction.

1st Annual Bonsai Shack Bonsai Show, Grand Re-Opening and BBQ-- On Saturday, April 4th, 2020, From 9am-5pm, Located at Down to Earth Nursery; 1040 Rte 45; Pomona, NY 10970. The Bonsai Shack will be hosting a Bonsai Show. The show is open to all Bonsai Enthusiast of any level. Anyone is invited to display a tree or two, and be a part of a fun day of Bonsai Camaraderie. There will be multiple awards and anyone displaying a tree will receive 10% off any purchase made at the Bonsai Shack, the day of the show. All are welcome to show a tree or stop by and have a cheeseburger and enjoy the day. Also on this day, we will be hosting our grand Re-Opening. We have acquired hundreds of new trees and many pots, some of them being very high end, imported Japanese pots. We will also be having a BBQ with Cheeseburgers, Hotdogs and Soft Drinks. On Saturday, April 20, 2019, the Bonsai Shack will be hosting its first, in a continuing series, of Bonsai for Beginners. There will be an interesting presentation on the art of Bonsai, aimed at giving beginners an insight into this fascinating art.
The event will take place at 11am @ Down to Earth Nursery, and will conclude by 12:30 pm. The event is free and all are welcome to attend. We will also be having a store wide sale on all Bonsai trees and related items.
